Hello, I’m Ignasi Pasto. I’m working in IPHES as General Research Coordinator. The Institut Català de Paleoecologia Humana i Evolució Social (IPHES) is a research center created in 2005 within the CERCA program by Generalitat de Catalunya, and supported by different public institutions, specially Universitat Rovira i Virgili and Ajuntament de Tarragona.

The IPHES is on the cutting edge of the scientific arena as a generator of knowledge in the fields of Paleoanthropology in a wide sense. The main goal of IPHES is to study dynamics in human evolution and behaviour through fieldwork, laboratory analysis and research. In this sense, our traditional research areas include, but are not limited to Prehistory and Physical Anthropology to study the Human Palaeoecology and Social Evolution.

In fact, one of the foundational aims of IPHES is the dedication to stand at the intersection of the Social Sciences and Humanities and the rest of Sciences, because this relationship is a source of Frontier Research and Creativity, specially in the current Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) paradigm.

My general work in IPHES is to think about the ways to reach the goals of the centre. I contribute to this as a source of ideas, as a draftsman of projects and prospecting new horizons for the members and staff of IPHES.
